I love the Bible so much. I love that each year my revelation of the Word grows deeper and richer as God intricately weaves my heart with His.
We see Jesus proclaim that He is the “Alpha and Omega”, in Revelation 1:8, which are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. This was also common among the Jewish teachers to use the first and the last letters of the Hebrew alphabet to distinguish the whole of anything (from beginning to end).
But, who else finds it fascinating how detailed God is?
Reading the Torah, the first letter used is “bet” and the final letter of the Torah is ‘lamed’. Together, they form the Hebrew word ‘lev’ (heart) which brings again this notion that whether we are Jew or Gentile, the Bible is the heart of God. Yet, the Hebrews think of the heart a lot differently than we do because the heart isn’t just the organ that gives us physical life but the place where we can think and make sense of the world around us. The heart is where we feel emotions and make choices from.
Therefore, the heart of God is to reveal Jesus to us because Christ visually represents the Father and the essence of who He actually is (John 10:30).
Friends, Jesus is in the first verse of Genesis and the last verse of Revelation because He not only encompasses what it means to be the beginning and end of all things but because, as the Alpha and Omega, He is referencing Himself as the one true God.
Jesus is the world’s salvation by being the justification before God, to the final sanctification for His bride…which simply means that Jesus is all things to all people
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
