“Do not love this world nor the things it offers

“Do not love this world nor the things it offers you” 1 John‬ ‭2:15

Over the last few months, I have pulled back from social media, mostly because I felt the Lord telling me to, but also, you will know that I have had a “love/hate” relationship with it

Whilst the people that I have connected with are incredible on these platforms; there is still the voice from the Lord telling me to “retreat” and, whilst social media in itself isn’t bad, the algorithms that have been created by man, the demands for “reels”, and even the expectations to promote everything to “boost” the engagement has shown innately where the heart of social media now lies

It has come to the point where the Lord is really pressing on my heart to stop, and therefore, stop I shall

Honestly, I wrestled with God about leaving these platforms because I was unsure how in the 21st century, that you could have a ministry, and yet, God reminded me of who He is and how He will not conform to this world, and so, I am excited about the future, and the journey God will take me on, but our walk with the Lord is always about obedience and faith

Lastly, I will continue to post from my blog (to which the link is in my bio) and so, you will be able to reach me from there, and (eventually) I am excited to be releasing more books and devotions

They say that to love someone is special... To be

Within the verses of Genesis 3:9-13, we can see ex

Within the verses of Genesis 3:9-13, we can see exactly what has happened when God is asking the question

“Where are you?”

It should be the question that we ask ourselves daily within our walk with the Lord because as sin continues within our lives, we can see from Adam and Eve and even the countless others within the Bible that we simply go astray and move further away from God

When God asked that simple question, He knew exactly where Adam and Eve were, and yet, He was being merciful in allowing them the opportunity to come clean regarding their actions. Yet, in our humanness, it means that we seek to blame others rather than own up to our own mistakes, and if we can learn anything from Adam and Eve, it must be that we need to return to God as quickly as possible - to His loving and graceful embrace

This Father sent Jesus to be the shepherd for His lost sheep. That's why Scripture says we need to know His voice because ultimately, if we have wandered, then we have wandered into satan's path, which leads us to destruction, and therefore, we must know Jesus’ voice to get back to the Father

Friends, Adam had good reason to be afraid at that moment in Eden because he was in the presence of the Righteous Father, and Adam did not have the righteousness of Christ to clothe him, as we do, which saw that when shame had come upon Adam, he sought to cover up his sin rather than deal with it and seek forgiveness

This morning; God is asking us where we are too, so let’s go and spend time with Him, and ask for forgiveness of our sins rather than let shame control us, so that we then become the lost sheep

We aren’t born with the need to cover our nakedn

We aren’t born with the need to cover our nakedness, but there comes a point where we intrinsically want to cover our “modesty”. I remember the feeling of needing to cover myself and the shame of being naked unintentionally, growing up

It is suggested that God’s light covered Adam and Eve before the fall. Hence why there was no shame as they were clothed in a “light of Righteousness” (Matthew 17:2). Yet, it wasn’t until Adam sinned that both Adam’s and Eve’s eyes were opened

Maybe they suddenly became aware of God’s goodness leaving them because suddenly their guilt was now being attached with shame

Either way, they both tried to “fix” the feeling of shame by covering themselves in fig leaves - which by all accounts, proved that humanity’s wisdom over God’s is futile as fig leaves wouldn’t be the most comfortable of garments due to their prickly edges

This then paints the beautiful picture of us needing Jesus to cover us and to cover our sins before the Father ultimately, as it is foolish to do things another way

How sad it must have been for Adam and Eve to realise the happiness they fell from to the sadness they now sat within

Guilt is an emotion to run to God with. There is nothing that we can do that will separate us from the love of God if we repent and turn from our sin. Adam and Eve’s biggest mistake (as is ours) is to try and cover up what we have done. Shame is ugly because instead of looking at the deed, it affects who we are and makes us try to hide from God

Friends, my prayer is that humanity will realise that we are still striving to cover ourselves up with inappropriate garments, which nonetheless make us feel ashamed and afraid in this world. It's time to run into God's arms and let Him surround us with His light once more
