Loving Anyway

I look around and see that the world still thrives on hate. The media shows endless stories that will rise up a vast array of emotions in us simply because it sells stories

One of the most recent outcries has been because of Afghanistan. We can not comprehend what is happening over there, but we have brothers and sisters in Christ, who are actually choosing to stay to be the light in the darkness. They want to show these regimes that Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and that should make us stop in our tracks

We all know the verses about loving others. If we think about it, most people can probably quote these types of verses with their eyes closed, but it becomes authentic when we are faced with persecution or hardship

Most of us will never know what it means to look death in the eye (if we do not renounce our faith) but during this time, we need to pray for others who, unfortunately, this is their truth

It’s not about trying for God to get people out of the country because God’s will will be done, but, as we prayed last night at our church prayer meeting, let’s pray that those who have chosen to stay, that Christ’s love shines stronger. Let’s pray Christians to continue to choose to love others because God loved them first

Love is a verb. It’s a doing word, and I want to honour the beautiful people in Afghanistan who understand the true meaning of the Gospel, because they have decided to love others until their last breath, and they understand that this life is not the end

“We love each other because he loved us first.”
