Imagine what it was like for Moses when he came down from Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments, and his face was glowing from being in God’s presence (Exodus 34:29-35)
At that time, Moses had to put a veil over his face to keep everyone from being terrified by the brightness. However, Paul also wrote in 2 Corinthians that the veil also kept the Israelites from seeing the radiance fade away – this illustrates the fading of the old system
This old system can still be used as a visual fit where people still are today. The world still has a veil over their minds, their thoughts, the hardness of their hearts, and refusal to repent. Yet, Scripture shows us that when we become a Christian, the veil is removed (3:16) which brings eternal life and the freedom from trying to be saved in other ways
The beauty of the veil being removed is that we then can be like mirrors, reflecting God’s glory – like Moses
What we should desire more of, is for the Spirit to impart His glory within us, as we continually walk with Him because this type of glory is more excellent and certainly lasts longer than the glory Moses experienced!
Friends, by gazing at the nature of God with our unveiled minds, we are able to become more like Him. How? By following Christ
In the Gospels, we can see the truth about Christ, and this transforms us so that we can not only understand it but apply it to our lives, and this is where the glory increases because the more closely we follow Christ, the more we will be like Him
This morning, I pray that we will all radiate God’s glory to show others God’s truth in this darkened world, but also that we will continue to live glory to glory, as our relationship with God is deepened and strengthened through the Holy Spirit
“So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”
