Proverbs Challenge (Day 4)

Welcome to Day 4 of the Proverbs Challenge which means today, we are reading Proverbs 4!

It’s been incredible to read how God is moving within your lives, and the depth of insight He is revealing, in so many different ways! I am so encouraged by your sharing, so thank you for the vulnerability

So, today, the couplet that I want to reflect upon is Proverbs 4:5-7

“Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them. Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you. Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.”

Proverbs 4:5-7

My thoughts: Wisdom is a choice. We have to want to decide to go after God for this, and therefore, it takes trust and determination not to abandon this journey once we begin – no matter what the enemy tries to throw at us

My reflection: I have found that Godly wisdom is not a one-step reward, but a faithful journey of daily obedience choosing between two paths. The wrong path is discussed in Proverbs 4:14-17, 19 and the right path is mentioned in Proverbs 4:18

The right path may not be obvious to start with, and that can be daunting to step out, but as we seek God, I love the imagery found in verse 18, because it is like the first gleam of dawn. From this, it’s a matter of literally following His light until we walk in the fullness of God’s wisdom and into His presence

That is what my heart truly desires – to be in the fullness of God’s presence. It’s my heart for you all too! I am not satisfied with a healing here, a miracle there, nor the fragrance of the Lord coming and going etc. because too many of us only want God when there is a need…I want it all…EVERYDAY

I want to be drenched day after day in God’s presence. I want to be His best friend, not just a child of God. I live for Jesus. Pure and simply – He has my heart

Blimey, Proverbs 4 certainly bought out some passionate thoughts, for me! What did God speak to you about?

Lastly, Happy Independence Day! You might think that this is a strange thing to say, considering I was born in the UK, but now live in New Zealand! Yet, fourteen years ago today, on Independence Day, I gave my life to Jesus, and as you can see, I am still passionately in love with Him
