It has been a journey of admitting who I am in God. I don’t mean giftings, because that comes easy to most of us, but, I mean in my true identity in Christ, God has shown me who I am, and what speaks to the depths of my heart
That right, there was the tough one, because of what God had shown me. It was not a bad thing. How could it be? But more, I wanted different! I didn’t want to be wired this way, but God has shown me otherwise
Rejection has always played a role in my life. From the main character, to the leading lady, or simply an extra. It’s there, simmering away until the enemy has a way to strike…
I hated that a comment from someone I cared for, or a remark from a loved one, pierced my soul, and sometimes, the issue wasn’t what others said; it was what they didn’t say that hurt me the most
Why?
Why did words of affirmation mean so much to me? For years, I wouldn’t admit that this love language was my main one, because I thought it was fickle. Fickle that words would mean life or death to my heart
Yet, this is the journey God takes us on. The vulnerability to let go, and trust Him to embrace who we are, who He created us to be, and whether we like it or not. It does not change. It’s the very being of our identity and the way we most connect with, not only each other but with our Heavenly Father
Friends, when I researched about Words of Affirmation, it showed me that this is powerful. Simply because God bought life from words. He brings love through the rhema of Scripture. We edify each other with the words we speak over us. Words are powerful. Scripture tells us that words are powerful
The old saying ”stick and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me” is a lie. From experience. Bones heal, but words that have been spoken over my life have taken decades to unpack with God
Therefore, this morning, show someone kindness with affirmations. This should be a heartfelt encouragement, or showing someone how much they mean to you etc. Ask God to show you who to give that ”word” to!
This morning, I read this Scripture in Zephaniah, and it bought me so much joy that God sings with rejoicing over me, as He does for you too…Be the joy in someone’s world today. Speak life
“He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Zephaniah 3:17
