I love the Hope that God lavishly gives to us, through Jesus Christ
I love the Grace and Mercy that is shown to so many throughout the Bible
But I also love the purity of God’s love that is shown to Peter, after he mucked up
Let’s face it, when the Son of God tells you that you are going to disown Him three times before the Rooster crows, and you then flat out deny that that will ever happen. I think if it was me, I would need time to reflect on what the Sinless Man was saying to me! Yet, it can be all too easy to deny something will ”never happen” and I have written about ”never saying never” before
Yet, this morning, as I read the words from the Book of Mark:
But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you
Mark 16:7
It made me realise that God wanted to make sure that Peter didn’t wallow in his failure. To note that Peter was still part of God’s plan for the redemption of the world
The two words, ”and Peter” is profoundly beautiful. Simple, yet powerful. God was picking out the one who blew it. The one who denied Him three times (as predicted) and yet, God was saying – I still need you
Friends, we all make mistakes. Proverbs tells us that the ”godly” or ”righteous” may trip up in life, but we always get back up again. It reminds me of my life Scripture (Psalm 46:5) – I know God has me because He will never get me fall…trip, yes, but when we trip, it’s not the end. It’s a monetary blip.
So, get up…
Just like Peter, God is calling you back to Him. Your plan and purpose is intimacy with God. Peter heard the words about the empty tomb and Scripture says; he ran there…He got up, and through that obedience, changed the world with the other Disciples as well
The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked
Proverbs 24:16
