Stay Down

Something I always found hard to do was to admit that I was wrong. I was raised to get back up fighting when anything, or anyone, knocked me down, but this created in me a hatred, a fear, or even a delusion that I didn’t need anyone in life

I certainly was never an individual to admit my mistakes – so when things went wrong in life, I would ”dust myself off” and go for Round 2, Round 3, or whatever was needed, to not look weak

Now I understand that it’s our human nature that wants to hide sin, or overlook our mistakes because to change, very often it means acknowledging the issue, confessing it to God, and others, where necessary. I have realised that it is foolish to not stay on the ground and pray for God to help me through these circumstances because that is when history repeats itself

Friends, those of us who are strong enough to admit our mistakes and sins, are usually those who are comfortable in their identity with Christ

God has shown me that it takes more courage, and grace, to admit when we are wrong in a situation, because we understand that admitting these things means we don’t always have to be right, to still be accepted or loved

We need to remember that confession doesn’t mean weakness…it means forgiveness
