This Verse…

Do you ever reread Scripture?

I don’t mean over the years, but there are sometimes where I have to “pause” what I am reading and digest the words that have captured my thoughts

I can’t seem to get past reading Psalm 27, as I wrote about this verse earlier this week, but there is something about verse eight that my Spirit leaps with anticipation, and my soul cries out to God

As I sat with Him yesterday, these words just leapt into my heart:

“My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Psalm 27:8

It’s that desperation to be with the Father after we hear Him calling to us

How many people would “obey” if they knew that God was beckoning them to spend time in His presence? For instance: would you stop scrolling aimlessly on your phone or stop watching Netflix?

Friends, the reason this verse impacts me so deeply is that these words aren’t just a one-off gesture. God is continuously speaking these over us, and David shows us His response to the Lord

My prayer this morning, is that we will tune our hearts to listen to God’s sweet, gentle voice. When David talks about the heart hearing God, this is his inner being connecting to the Heavenly Father

Therefore, let’s stop with the distractions of life and start honing into the One who wants to spend every waking moment with us

Let’s respond, like David, when we are hearing God’s call to our heart
