Wait, then Wait Some More

Yesterday, God was stirring me regarding this Scripture, but also speaking life into what it means actually to wait for the Lord

Psalm 27 is one of my favourite Psalms, and I remember years ago speaking to my Spiritual Father about the Book of Psalms not speaking to my soul. In truth, I can look back now and see that I didn’t want to connect with the words on those pages because I was afraid of having the intimacy with God

I believe that there are two types of people in this world concerning waiting, and honestly, at some point in my life, I have been both of them!

These days, the book of Psalms tends to be one of my go to’s to find solace in the Lord, so yesterday, I was happy to chat to Him about what it means to wait

You have those of us who wait passively for God to answer prayers. In other words, they sit back and simply do nothing, but then after a time has passed, they announce that they are striving forward in a quest to fulfil what they believe is the right path, and then asks God to bless that choice

You then have those who wait expectantly for the Lord to release us in His perfect timing.

These are people who will trust in the Lord (Psalm 27:1-2) no matter what our circumstances look like; they will be steadfast in remaining still until God says too

They will also seek God whilst waiting in His dwelling place. David felt secure (Psalm 27:4) in worshipping and praising his Heavenly Father, and so, that is where he placed himself not to become disheartened

But, lastly, one of the most powerful things we can do is pray whilst waiting for God. David, again, shows us this (Psalm 27:7-14) because whilst he was expectant of what God had spoken over his life, David prayed for wisdom and protection whilst he waited

Friends, waiting isn’t a bad thing if God hasn’t released us into the next season. I love verse 14 because it shows that those who do, are brave and courageous because it means that we are ultimately putting our faith in God

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
