Last week, Sarai volunteered to write a devotion for her school class. It was a ”proud Mumma” moment when she came home and told us that she wanted to write something. So, she has allowed me to share it with you:
”2020 has been hard for some of us. COVID-19 stopped us from coming to school, having friends over to hang out, and for some, we may have also felt sad and alone at times.
When I was sad, it changed the way I acted towards my family, and I didn’t act like myself. So, I argued with my Dad, and basically I got told off, as it wasn’t nice for anyone.
This Psalm is pretty long, but it talks about staying true to God and His word – no matter how bad the world becomes.
My mum told me to think about what Jesus would do if He were me at that moment, and I ended up reading my Bible.
This made me realise that I become happy when I obey God. So that means asking for forgiveness when you do something wrong, or loving others the way God loves us.”
Friends, I hope that this morning, we can take something from what Sarai wrote. For me: I look at my daughter and remember what it was like not to overcomplicate life, but to read God’s word and apply it simply within my world, because when I am walking with the Holy Spirit, and following Jesus (as my guide within my day) that is when I am most happiest
This morning, let’s remember that God’s word is true, and so, let’s stay true to God and His word no matter what is happening around us. God has given us amazing book to apply God’s instructions to our lives, and in my own life, I have realised that obedience to God is the only thing that brings true happiness
“I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands.”Psalm 119:6
