I live to be in God’s presence. It’s my favourite place to be. To simply sit at His feet, and allow God to speak His truths – there is nothing like it
Yet, Scripture shows us that before Jesus died for our sins, this was not a reality for most people. Yes, there were individuals that we read about, who God spoke directly too, or He met with face-to-face, but this wasn’t an everyday occurrence
Also, the High Priest was only permitted to atone for Israel’s sins, once a year, by entering the Holy of Holies within the Tabernacle, and this is why I love Jesus so much, because the day He died, life was changed forever
Have you ever thought about the curtain in the sanctuary being torn from top to bottom?
This curtain wasn’t a piece of silk that a mere human could tear but an intricately woven (gigantic) curtain, tailor-made, to specific dimensions, that God tore Himself. We know this because it was torn from top to bottom, but due to its size and weight, it apparently took 300 priests to manipulated the curtain. Therefore, when Jesus made way for us to enter into God’s presence (by dying on the cross) God immediately confirmed this, by tearing the curtain in two. No man could have done this because the curtain was simply too big
Friends, God tore the curtain because He wanted us to come to Him. He wants a relationship with us. Yet there are so many of us still standing at the edge of the tabernacle, afraid that God will destroy us if we enter into His presence
I encourage you today to sit in God’s presence. Go to Him, and ask Him to surround you because what was a once-a-year occurrence for the High Priest, can now be a daily occurrence for all of God’s children
“At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split”
Matthew 27:51
