Little Flock

I read this Scripture yesterday, and I haven’t been able to get it off my mind:

“So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.”

Luke 12:32

It is said that God tells us 365 times in the Bible to not to be afraid – unsure if this is true- but if so, that is one Scripture per day to remind us that we have nothing to fear

However, this Scripture is directed directly at us not to be afraid of God the Father. So many times within my first year’s as a Christian, I was petrified of God – scared of doing wrong, scared of being near Him, but also, scared of not being near Him. It was all new, and I couldn’t comprehend that my Heavenly Father would want to be near me after everything I had done. So, therefore, for years, I developed a mentality that I had to ”prove” my love for God, and then, I tried to earn His love for many years after that, but both ways weren’t right

You see, God already loved me more than I could have comprehended before I already knew Him, and therefore, the hardest thing was letting go of a performance-based faith, and realising that I was loved regardless of deed. God loved me. He loved me with an everlasting love that means that I have an eternal inheritance

But then I come back to this Scripture found in Luke 12:32. Little flock was directed at Jesus’ disciples and all of God’s children to come that we have nothing to be afraid of concerning God for those reasons. If God didn’t wholeheartedly love us, He wouldn’t have given us redemption at the cross, and our sins would never be forgiven, through Jesus

Friends, anyone who still ”fears” God (as in, you are scared of the Father) needs a revelation of your true identity, because I have come to know that the Father is someone who encompasses love, and therefore, perfect love casts out all fear – I do not fear anything to come in this lifetime or the next

I want to encourage us this morning, that as God’s children, we have promises that we can read within His Word, and the thing that completely blows my mind is that our Dad tells us that we can enjoy Heaven now, on earth, if we only but follow Jesus’ ways
