I listen to this song so much, and I love every word, because I can hear God singing it as a prophetic declaration over us all, but let me share what I see…
I see someone who feels like they are drowning in the waves of life, and they can’t see any relief from it all. But, for a second there is no fight left in them, and so, in their mind, they give up. Yet, as this person looks up, they see Jesus’ hand reaching in the water, and they are shocked to notice that He is standing on the mighty waves that they have been fighting against. They just stare at Jesus’ smile as He pulls the person up to be held by Him like a Father embracing His child. Before they know it Jesus is gliding them through the water, and as a wave comes towards them both, Jesus twirls the person, so that the motion takes the ocean wave in another direction, and you thus begin to dance in the waves. No longer is that person scared because Jesus is with them. They hold on and enjoy the journey because they know that Jesus will never let them go, and therefore, they dance their way through every wave that tries to come at them
Friends, when you take God’s hand in life and accept Jesus, there is no longer anything to be ashamed of, there’s no fear, or no rejection pounding on your heart’s door, because the moment you reach out, you are made whole
When things get on top of us all, remember to look up, because God created all the stars for us, so that we would not forget His name
When we feel like we can’t go on, I dare us to remember how much God loves us – right now – not when we get to heaven, but now, in this second, because we are His delight
I want to encourage us this morning to stop looking back at our past, our current mistakes, and fears of what is to come, because the enemy is stealing our joy, our hope, and our trust in God
Instead, let’s hold those negative thoughts captive, and apply it to what the Word says about us, or play this song and imagine that you are the person dancing in the waves with Jesus! Because we were re-born in Him to live our best lives and those waves may come, but so what – we have Jesus
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
