Today is Day 26 of the Proverbs Challenge, and you’ve guessed it, today we’ll be reading Chapter 26
Below is the Proverb that I want to talk through:
“Interfering in someone else’s argument is as foolish as yanking a dog’s ears.”
Proverbs 26:17
My Thoughts: As someone who was mauled by a dog, when I was in Primary School, I can tell you that it’s not something I want anyone to experience
Therefore, this Proverb was very visual for me, in understanding what happens when we meddle in other people’s business!
Yanking a dog’s ears is an easy way to get bitten because their ears are so sensitive. The same goes for people who are arguing or fighting! In that moment, it is a sensitive moment, and therefore, interfering can usually mean they’ll turn that anger on the one who interferes
My Reflection: This proverb was an easy reflection, but one that can deliver simple wisdom…
It’s best to simply keep out of arguments that are none of our business, or at the very least, we need to try and wait to become involved, until the dispute has stopped, or at least cooled off – because maybe, then maybe, you can then help to mend their differences and their relationship
