Today, is Day 19 of the Proverbs Challenge, so let’s reflect on what Chapter 19 has to say to us all!
Verse 8 spoke to me, in volumes:
“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good.”
Proverbs 19:8
My Thoughts: This is profound, in my life, because I didn’t understand how to love myself. I thought it was impossible to love who I saw in the mirror, and therefore, my story was one of self-destruction for many years
Yet, this verse is supposed to take us deeper…it is not a verse that focuses on this lifetime, but one that draws us to success in God’s eyes. It has an eternal perspective, in that, those of us who love ourselves will seek to love wisdom and understanding because these things will save our souls!
My Reflection: Is it actually good to love ourselves? Actually, God wants us too, especially when it means the difference between Heaven and Hell
This Proverb isn’t condoning being ”self-centred” – which are people who just love and protect their own needs and interests, but instead, it encourages those of us who care about themselves and what God thinks, to seek wisdom
