Have you ever tried to worship God…tried to pray out loud at church…or even, be about to share the word…only to have the Holy Spirit challenge you about talking to a family member, a brother or sister in Christ, or even God, Himself, before you do it?
There can be times when we try to offer ourselves as a “sacrifice” when in public or amongst fellow believers. We can even become extra exuberant in our efforts to try and cover up our internal character flaws
I remember that God had given me a word to share, but my heart was not right before the Lord after a disagreement earlier in the day, so the Holy Spirit directed me to phone that person to sort out any issues, before speaking out that prophetic word
Proverbs 21:3 reminds us that all of the external “performances” are useless against a God that looks straight at our hearts
God won’t be bribed with our generosity with gifts to others, or even our gifts to the church, when there are circumstances in our own lives that need to be walked out with Christ
Friends, God will always want us to do the “right” thing within all aspects of our lives because it not only glorifies Him, but it stops the enemy from having a foothold to try and destroy us when the opportunity arises
So, I encourage us, today, to spend time with God, and ask Him to “test” our hearts and motives, to reveal any areas that need to receive forgiveness, because then, when we see a ”need” within our communities, families, or church, God will accept that offering, with love
To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice
Proverbs 21:3
