I have lost count with how many times the enemy has tried to sideswipe me, throughout my journey with God
There was a time where I didn’t think I had the power to keep going because my circumstances seemed too much to bear, and honestly, I felt that the ”easiest” way, was to go back to the way things were before giving my life to Christ. But, the Holy Spirit kindly showed me my place in Christ, and it changed my viewpoint, forever
You see, I was innocently told to not read the book of Revelation on my own, when I first came to faith, because people felt this book needed further explanation, rather as a new Christian, to simply read the words on the page
I remember being ”scared” to turn my Bible to this book, in fear of the unknown, and therefore, it was ten years before I did! It’s tragic really…that I went a decade of never reading the beautiful climax of God’s story, and the promises to come
Apparently, this is not uncommon. There are other people that I have realised were told the same thing within their Spiritual walk, and I understand that the enemy has whispered these lies to become truths in people’s hearts
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.”
Revelation 12:11
Friends, reading the verse found in Revelation 12:11 cemented my faith. It was the ”lightbulb” moment of my victory, and I will explain why
The Holy Spirit showed me that the victory became Jesus’ when He died on the cross, and because Jesus paid the price for our sins, we need to remember that when the enemy tries to come at us, He has to go through Jesus, first
The image of Jesus fighting for me filled me with joy, but there is more to this verse that bought further breakthrough in my life
We need to remember that we are no longer who the enemy tries to tell us that we once were
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Friends, be encouraged today, that even when the enemy comes at us, and he will because we are a threat to his plan, that Jesus has already won the victory! Jesus is there, standing to protect us and Jesus does this so that we might testify to His goodness because when we walk in freedom, others will see this in our lives, and realise that this truth, is an option for them as well
“I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”
