I love that the Jews are currently celebrating the Passover Feast, in remembrance, of God, saving their firstborn sons from the Spirit of Death, in Egypt
Last night, at our “Online Lifegroup” we partook in Communion together, as we remembered what Jesus has done for us, but also what He is continuing to do for us, daily, as Christians
Yet, it was noted, that so many of us will remember Jesus’ body and blood during the time of communion, but not the significance of when Jesus said those words at the “Last Supper.” It was in fact during the “Passover” meal
This brings so much more revelation over why Jesus did this because it was symbolic of the old traditions needing to die to make way for the new, concerning the Jews (God’s chosen people) and the Gentiles (us)
In a way, the Passover meal was superseded by the Last Supper because Christ is our Passover Lamb
Friends, although the Passover Festival is celebrated every year within the Jewish Festivals, we can still remember what God did for the Israelites because it is part of our History as a Christian, but Good Friday is now the real reason we celebrate – because Christ died to set us ALL free
“My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your house.”
