A Call to the Watchmen

Quite a few people have been in touch recently, to ask why they are being woken at 3am by the Lord

This is usually called, ”The watchman hour.” In the Old Testament, watchmen were posted to guard the people against attack

Yet, God uses people, as a watchman, for intercessory prayer. These people have the highest call to pray over individuals, cities, nations, or globally. They pray over specifics or a covering prayer, but whatever the call to prayer is for, those who have been called as a watchman, have the honour to partner with God

In verse seven of Isaiah 62, God states that He wants people to give him no rest and that we are to cry out to Him. This is for His mercy to be poured out upon His children

Friends, there is always a risk that when we are comfortable in life that we take our eyes of God, and yet, in some ways that is when we need Him the most. This is when uncertainty comes in the night to take us away from His presence and to, therefore, steal our true peace and joy from under us

I want to be called to pray, and have people around me called to pray, because in doing so, we enter God’s courts, and receive God’s mercy as we set out for the Spirit to bring all that we need

As to why the call is usually around 3am, there is no Biblical meaning for this, but what I do know, is when God wakes me to pray, I have learnt to obey, because I don’t want Him to ask someone else, or miss His beautiful presence being around me, as I draw closer to Him

“O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord. Give the Lord no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth.”

Isaiah 62:6-7
