I remember when Sarai was first born, I was absolutely petrified of her getting hurt. As a new mama, your hormones are raging, and your desire to protect this precious gift kicks in.
Yet, after a couple of weeks, my own Mother phoned me, and I became anxious. I really wanted to take Sarai for a walk in a local park on my own, which was no more than a five-minute walk to get there, yet I had frozen in this fear of ”what if’s” to do it on my own. I was afraid I wasn’t good enough. Afraid of what might be
What if…something happened?
What if…one of us got hurt?
Then my Mum replied as I realised I had spoken this out loud, ”Yes…but what if you have a lovely time? At some point, you need to just go out on your own with her.”
It seems trivial, and looking back, it almost feels ”silly” to have felt like that, at that time, but Sarai was our miracle-child, and I didn’t want anything to go wrong! As the story goes, we went out that day (and all was well) and any other day, from that point onwards – we enjoyed our time together
God reminded me of this time in my life, this morning, and as I talked with the Holy Spirit, those feelings of having no control swept over me again. It was if God had opened the floodgates of what we feel like, when we aren’t walking in His grace, love and protection
Friends, there are some of us today living in fear of the ”what if’s.” For some of us, God has said to jump with both feet into the promised land, and yet, I see one foot in, and the other foot firmly where you were previously
God wants all of us. All of our trust, and all of our obedience, because that is where we see atmospheres shift, breakthroughs occur, or supernatural miracles take place
If you are at a ”what if” stage in your life, I want to encourage you this morning to be strong and courageous – jump with two feet into what He is asking of you! We need to remember that God is always with us, and if He has asked us to trust Him, then we are already sheltered under His wings of protection
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
