Good Intentions

Yesterday, saw a person I care about, go through their thoughts about getting into heaven, and that they believe a loving God won’t let a ”good person” go to hell – although they don’t believe in the devil. It’s more that an evil person will live with their consequences

We then tried to talk about idealism around people’s viewpoints on God, because let’s be honest, we would rather believe in a loving God, rather than a devil, or heaven, rather than hell.

Friends, we need to understand that Jesus reveals that it is our actions, not intentions, that reveal the real state of our heart, and Scripture shows that God looks at our hearts regarding a persons identity (1 Samuel 16:7)

We may think that we are a good person, because we don’t break the law, we pay taxes and we love our family…but, Scripture shows us that we all fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23) which is why a ”lie” or to ”murder” is still deemed as sin, in God’s eyes

In the parable regarding good fruit, Jesus shares that our heart is the source of our actions. In other words, what we do and say is ultimately what we genuinely believe, and therefore, we can not confess to be a Christian and not ”try” to live a godly life.

To believe in Jesus means that life is never the same because we are living for Him, and not continuing to do what was ”before” our faith

Believe me when I say that things of the past take time to conquer, but when we are walking with God, and being directed by the Holy Spirit, our lives do change, thoughts and feelings of what was, are no more, and we overcome the urge to do something, that goes against God’s will for our lives

Yesterday, my friend who has given their heart to Jesus said that they find numerology ”fun” and while we are all on a journey, God asks that we live a blameless life (we need to be trying to change our old ways)

Therefore, today I pray, that we will all ask God to reveal areas where our actions need to change. Also, for Him to show where our hearts need to align with His, so that then, our actions will reflect His will for our lives

”What you say flows from what is in your heart.” Luke‬ ‭6:45‬
