When Words have more Meaning

David spoke this verse in Scripture, at a time when people didn’t know what Jesus had done for them, and therefore, in some ways, it’s so much more comfortable within our Christian walk today, because we know, and understand what God has revealed to us about past, present, and future

David only knew God for what had happened within the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and yet, that is where he drew strength from

Friends, when David is singing about “the Rock of Salvation” David wasn’t singing about Jesus because the Messiah had not yet been revealed. Salvation looked very different in the Old Testament, because it was more about David’s day-to-day salvation. God saved him from death, from starvation, from sickness, and greed. God helped David to overcome so many things that David sang because of joy and thankfulness…David sang to exalt God’s mighty name

God is the Rock of our Salvation. He was then, He is now, and He will be with what is to come

If David could praise God for His protection, then we have so much more to praise God for!

Now, I do not know your circumstances, and so, sometimes, praise is the last thing we want to do, yet, in the midst of everything David endured, he would still remember his Deliver, his Protector, his Guide, and his Salvation

Salvation for us, as we now understand it, is not only within the physical – as we journey with the Holy Spirit to become more Christlike, but also Spiritual – because we know that Jesus has saved our soul

Do not lose sight of the power of the words spoken by David, or anything within God’s Word. They have so much more meaning than we can comprehend at present, but when we look back and see, just like we can with David’s life, we will know that God was our Rock throughout the whole of time
