I love the Old Testament because it gives us God’s Laws but God gave the Israelites these rules (that were needed to be followed strictly) to show that no one could do it by themselves – they needed a saviour. The Messiah.
The New Testament then clarifies to us that the Law was meant to show people their need of salvation but was never intended to be the means of it. The Law was always to guide people to Jesus and into God’s loving arms.
Sadly, some people still have it the wrong way around, even today!
Jesus is the Way to Truth and Life – so I feel blessed, that I am apart of the new covenant because it means that I get to glorify God because I want to, and because I love Him, not just because God commanded me to follow rules for my own good.
Are you still trying to live by standards that you feel you can never achieve?
Look to Jesus for the answer
“For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” Romans 3:20-22
