Atheists aren’t stupid

My family are all still unbelievers and sometimes I do get frustrated by this.

My Dad just this week said that he guesses, one day, he will meet the devil because until he can see God in front of him, he won’t believe. I was talking to him about God. I am praying for that radical encounter!

Psalm 53 talks about atheism and how although atheistic people are intelligent, they are fools to reject God, because He is the only One that can save them.

Those who don’t know Jesus, David is saying that although they aren’t stupid, they are foolish to not see the evidence that God exists, or worst, people choose to ignore the existence of Him because they refuse to live by God’s truths.

This echoes Psalm 14.

Some of us will say that we could never reject God, but actually we become atheists in practice when we rely on ourselves more than on God.

Ouch – that’s a tough one, but sometimes we find it easier to look at others misguided lifestyles than our own.

This Psalm is a reminder that God is continuously looking throughout the world to see if anyone has gained wisdom towards Him – which Proverbs says is simply knowledge and understanding.

Let’s pray for our family and friends who are still foolish.

They are called just as much as we are, back to God. But remember that that speck in their eye, is nothing compared to our log (Matthew 7:3) so let’s not judge anyone by their actions.

  1. Prayer for ones to come to know the Lord are dear to the Father’s heart. He loves to answer. The walls keeping your loved ones from God are crumbling in the name of Jesus! Praying with you! Breakthrough!

  2. My brother loved the Lord and was on fire for him. Yet, sadly, a few years ago, he completely left the Lord and declares himself as an atheist. He wants nothing to do with me or my aunt who is a minister. I find it so sad as all I can do is pray for him. I so much want to reach out to him.
I understand the agony seeing someone you love, your own family, not want to have anything to do with God. I pray alongside you that God will bring a breakthrough for your family. May they see a fresh revelation of God in you and may God take the veil off their eyes to see him clearly. Keep shining bright for Christ and being his example. Keep praying for your family as well. God bless you xx
